Please could you provide a list of UK independent schools (preferably in excel format) that have a sixth form/ teach 17-19 year olds.

Where possible could you also include these details for each school:
▪ address
▪ email for general enquires
▪ contact telephone number for general enquiries
▪ name of current head teacher
▪ gender distribution for the 17-19 year old age range (or entire school)
▪ number of A-Levels, Advanced Highers and IB Diplomas candidates in 2019
▪ number of As and A*s attained in A-Level
▪ number of As attained in Advanced Highers
▪ number who achieved 32 points or more in their IB Diploma

If these exact metrics for grades are unavailable to you, please provide similar alternatives for academic attainment.

The Department holds the information you requested, but it is being
withheld because the following exemption applies to this information:

 

Section 21 of the FOI Act – Information accessible to applicant by other

information in response to a request if it is already reasonably
accessible to you.

 

The information that you have requested is available on the ‘Get
information about schools’ (GIAS) site, which is a register of schools and
colleges in England.  The Department for Education is responsible for
children’s services and education, including early years, schools, higher
and further education policy, apprenticeships and wider skills in England

To access the required information on the GIAS site please use the link
and follow the instructions below:

1.Select ‘All establishments’, search

2.Establishment Type – select ‘independent schools’ and using the drop
down arrow on the ‘special school’ field select ‘other independent special
schools’

3. Select ‘Download these search results’

4. Select ‘Full set of data’ , Select and continue

5. Select ‘Data in XLSX (Excel) format’ , select and continue

6. Open data file and extract schools with the required age range.

 

The Excel file will include the required fields:

            ▪  address

            ▪  email for general enquires

            ▪  contact telephone number for general enquiries

            ▪  name of current head teacher

Gender distribution will be shown for the entire school, this information
is not available for the 17-19 year old age range.

 

You requested the number of A-Levels, Advanced Highers and IB Diplomas
candidates in 2019 for each school.  When the schools have been identified
with required age range following the GIAS download, the individual GIAS
page for each school includes a link to ‘Data from other services:
[3]Compare school and college performance ‘, which provides examination
data for the selected school. 

 

This department does not hold any data relating to the Scottish
examination system, please contact Scottish Education

In addition, each independent school is required to make available
particulars of the school’s academic performance during the school year,
including the results of any public examinations.  The Independent School
Standards do not specify that this information should be published,
however you may wish to check each school’s website as they often do so.
