Please could you provide me with the first set of schools bullying by type data. I gather from your officer Sam Beal that this data should be available by the end of this month.

Bullying by type data
Since September 2012 schools have been asked to record both prejudiced based incidents (Hate Incidents) and bullying by type and asked to return the bullying by type data to the local authority on a termly basis. The the first data set is attached.
Schools are improving their recording of bullying by type, but there is still more work to do in this area to ensure accuracy. It would be expected that schools would be more vigilant about collecting bullying related to ethnicity and religion as they were more practiced at doing this under previous statutory requirements to return racist and religiously motivated incidents. However, it may also be the case that this data set includes some one-off incidents as well as records of bullying.
There is ongoing training and support to schools to improve recording of both bullying and prejudiced based incidents effectively using definitions in the local authority guidance (as attached) and to use this data to monitor and inform whole school developments and support for individual children and young people who are targets and perpetrators.
