School Transport Policy consultation

K Mayes made this Freedom of Information request to Leicestershire County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Leicestershire County Council,

You have just closed a home to school transport consultation. The consultation presented only one option (the "nearest school" option). This will have a varied and significant impact on a great many children and parents. I would be grateful if you could provide information on the level of public involvement that was used in the development of this single proposal. Specifically, how did you involve parents, students and the wider public in the process that led to the proposal you then consulted on. Were parents represented on decision making groups? Were parents engaged in discussions about a range of options prior to the single option being settled on? How did you test out the potential impact on local residents prior to the full development of the proposal?

A second question. Who completed the equality impact assessment that was published alongside the consultation and what engagement with local communities was undertaken to evidence the opinions cited therein? In other words, what assurance can you provide that "due regard" was properly taken?

Yours faithfully,

K. Mayes

Leicestershire County Council
