School placement planning estimates and actual data

Carol Linton made this Freedom of Information request to Buckinghamshire Council This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Buckinghamshire Council,
Local authorities have a duty under section 14 of the Education Act 1996 to secure that sufficient schools are available for their area to provide primary and secondary education. In order to do this Buckinghamshire must know the actual and estimated number of children in each geographical area. If this is not true, please can you advise how you plan the school places?
I would be grateful to know
• Estimated number of year 6 children living in the areas covered by SL1, SL2 and, SL6 in the years 2019/20 to 2025/26 by geographical area (identified by 4 chars of the post code or more detailed), which form the basis of your school placement planning
• Estimated number of primary and secondary places needed for 2019/20 to 2025/26 for the following schools
o St Peter’s Burnham
o Lent Rise
o St Nicholas Taplow
o Dorney
o Farnham Common Infant and Junior schools
o Farnham Royal
o Stoke Poges
o Dropmore
o Khalsa
o Burnham Grammar
o Bourne End Academy
• Actual number of pupils from each geographical area (as defined above) and which schools they attend
• Actual number of pupils attending the named schools by geographical area.
I know that each school reports the post code for all its pupils, and that this can be reserve engineered into the actual catchment areas of the school.
Yours faithfully
Carol Linton

Dear Buckinghamshire Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Buckinghamshire Council's handling of my FOI request 'School placement planning estimates and actual data'.

3 weeks ago, Buckinghamshire Council said they would chase the request and let me know what is happening.

I know that this data is readily available to the council on a government data base. Why cant they respond to the question on how they plan pupil numbers in the south of the county?

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Carol Linton
