"School leaders agree OFSTED is helpful" statement
Dear Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills,
On 10 April 2023, your spokesman is quoted as saying:
"We always want inspections to be constructive and collaborative, and in the vast majority of cases school leaders agree that they are."
See this BBC News article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65232137
I am aware that this quote is based on returns for the period 01/04/2021 to 31/03/2022 (https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio...)
However, this data only has 48% of respondents.
Query 1 - As less than 1/2 of those inspectors responded, does Ofsted and Secretary of State feel this volume of returns is sufficient to base policy on? (please provide evidence and correspondents to this effect)
Query 2 - Noting recent change in public opinion, following the suicide of a headteacher, can you please provide similar data for the following dates:
- 01/04/2022 to 31/03/23
When providing the data split the data into 12 months.
Within the data also state the number of respondents who worked in schools judged to be:
- outstanding
- good
- requires improvement
- inadequate
I am only interested in schools (LA Maintained and Academies)
Yours faithfully,
Interested person(s)
A Jones
