Dear Francesca Sandiford
Thank you for your request for information, which was received on
02/11/2021. You requested: 'a list of schools for the UK including contact
details and addresses, phase of education with details of expenditure on
supply/agency staff between September 2019 and July 2020 and September
2020 and July 2021.'
I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Information on the finances of LA maintained schools is collected via the
Consistent Financial Reporting framework and for Academies, via the
Academies Accounts Return. This only applies to schools in England,
schools in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the responsibility of
the devolved administrations and you should contact them for details.
Information on the expenditure by schools on agency supply staff is
published on the [1]Schools Financial Benchmarking website. Files are
available to download showing information for local authority maintained
schools and academies under the Data Sources option available [2]here.
For local authority maintained schools, information on expenditure on
agency and supply staff is shown in columns:
* E02: Supply teaching staff
* E10: Supply teacher insurance
* E26: Agency supply teaching staff
This expenditure should be offset against income from receipts from supply
teacher insurance claims shown in column I10.
For academies, information on expenditure on agency and supply staff is
shown in columns:
BNCH21102: Supply teaching staff
BNCH21204: Supply teacher insurance
BNCH21606: Agency supply teaching staff
This information is shown for both individual academies and central
expenditure for the academy trust, and should also be offset against
column BNCH11203, Receipts from supply teacher insurance claims.
For maintained schools, information for the financial year 2020-21 is
published on the website above and will be added to the Data Sources
section next this month. For academies, information for the academic year
2020/21 will be added in March 2022. Maintained schools’ finances are
collected for each financial year whereas academies information is
collected for the academic year.
