Dear Prince Henry's Grammar School, Otley,

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) to request the following data:

1) Total number of exclusions, including fixed-term, permanent and internal exclusions (for example internal isolation units/isolation rooms)

2) Of this total:
- Number of exclusions under each reason category, as specified by the DfE’s exclusion statistics (e.g. number of exclusions due to sexual misconduct; number of exclusions due to theft, and so forth)*
- Number of exclusions during online/remote learning

3) Total number of pupils excluded

4) Of this total:
- Number of boys
- Number of girls
- Number of non-binary pupils
- Number of pupils in receipt of free school meals
- Number of pupils in each year group, respectively
- Number of pupils of each ethnicity, as specified in Gov.uk list of ethnicities (e.g. number of Black Caribbean pupils excluded; number of Gypsy Roma pupils excluded, and so forth)**
- Number of SEN pupils with an EHC plan
- Number of SEN pupils without an EHC plan

For the following periods:

September 1st 2019 – March 31st 2020
April 1st – July 31st 2020
September 1st 2020 – Present

Dear Prince Henry's Grammar School,

Thank you very much for your response; your time and cooperation are much appreciated. Please could you clarify the following:

1. the numbers for each *type* of exclusion, i.e. Permanent, Fixed term and Internal, for each of the three time periods listed in the initial request, e.g., Sept 2019 - Mar 2020 = 1 x perm, 3 x fixed-term, 5 x internal

2. a) whether the 'External Exclusions' you listed in response to Qu 2 previously were permanent or fixed-term, b) whether the 2 exclusions for 'Assault' were "physical assault against another pupil" (PP) or "physical assault against an adult" (PA), and c) what exactly you mean by 'Removed from isolation', i.e., was this the reason for fixed/permanent exclusion, or what happened after the internal exclusion(s) had ended?

3) in which time period these exclusions fell, i.e. the reasons for the 9 exclusions in Sept 2019 - Mar 2020, and the reason for the 1 exclusion in the most recent time period

4) the characteristics of the pupils excluded *in each time period*, i.e. how many pupils of each gender, ethnicity, SEN and FSM status were excluded in Sept 2019 - Mar 2020, and then from Sept 2020 to the present?

Essentially, we are looking for all of the information -- including type of and reasons for exclusion, and the characteristics of the pupils excluded -- for *each* of the three time periods, rather than overall.

2 Removal from isolation is a behaviour type that resulted in fixed term
exclusion.

However, I'm afraid that I still need some further clarification before I can mark this request as complete. As per the initial FOI request, please provide:

a) the number of fixed-term (external, non-permanent) exclusions during the following time periods:

Sept 1st 2019 - March 31st 2020
April 1st - July 31st 2020 = 0
Sept 1st 2020 - Present

b) the number of internal exclusions in each of the above time periods:

Sept 1st 2019 - March 31st 2020
April 1st - July 31st 2020 = 0
Sept 1st 2020 - Present

c) the characteristics of the 9 pupils excluded between Sept 2019 and March 2020, including:

- Number of boys

- Number of girls

- Number of pupils in each year group, respectively

d) the characteristics of the 1 pupil you list as being excluded in Sept 2020 - Present, as per the above criteria.
