Thank you for your request for information received on 25th February 2019.
We have considered your request and enclose the following information -
1.What is the current waiting time from being referred to first
appointment (for School Based Counselling Services - SBCS).
However please note, from this month March 2019, we now provide a
time-limited model where pupils are offered up to 8 sessions (this is
reviewed after session 6). In exceptional circumstances, further sessions
can be provided. This will cut down the waiting times for the Service and
enable more pupils to access school-based counselling. Prior to March
2019, sessions were open-ended, with some pupils accessing prolonged
periods of counselling (in some instances this was up to a year).
2.How many individuals are currently awaiting their first appointment.
158 (across 82 schools)
3.How many individuals are currently being reviewed under the scheme.
Number of pupils currently being seen under the scheme: 124 (1:1
Number of pupils who have received Mindfulness Paws B intervention this
academic year (September 2018 to present): 234 pupils
4.How many individuals were referred in

7 counsellors (paid) + 1 volunteer (who works one morning a week)
6.How many schools are in the Caerphilly Borough that are able to access
82 Schools. SBCS is available to all pupils in our secondary schools,
Pupil Referral Unit and Special School and to all pupils in year 6 and
above in our Primary Schools. This is in line with WG requirements
