Abraham Somers Cocks

Dear Welsh Government,
Thank you. I was just wondering if the results of the 2016 Welsh school census was out, and in particular, the numbers and percentages of pupils in each state school who speak Welsh fluently at home, etc?

Yours faithfully,
Abraham Somers Cocks.

Dear Abraham,
The School Census Results for January 2016 were published in July 2016 and
the Statistical Release is available as a PDF on this link.  Below the PDF
are links to our StatsWales website, which has much more information.
The particular piece of information asked for on pupils who speak Welsh
fluently at home has been put together for you and is in the attached
Excel file.
The actual assessment of fluency is made by the parents and collected by
the schools, however, it is not required for schools to collect the data
for those below compulsory school age. Special schools are not required to
provide the information.
So, the schools listed are all those open at the time of the census that
had pupils aged 5 and over – excluding all Special schools.
