Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

I would be grateful if you could let me know what type of travel passes are supplied to children travelling to secondary school, (i.e a zone pass) and which area they would cover?

Yours faithfully,

Samantha Griffiths

Dear Ms Griffiths

Thank you for your recent request for information in which you asked " I would be grateful if you could let me know what type of travel passes are supplied to children travelling to secondary school, (i.e. a zone pass) and which area they would cover?"

We can advise that, for eligible pupils, Wirral Authority usually provides young person's Merseytravel Solo passes for term-time only travel on buses, from home to school. Solo tickets are valid throughout the Merseytravel region.

A Merseytravel Trio (also includes trains) may be issued in certain circumstances or where the parent requests to pay the difference in cost to the Authority. The areas covered are B1, or B2, or Area B. Pupils will only be issued with a travel pass that covers the specific zone(s) required to travel from home to school. The zones are listed on the Merseytravel website; https://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/tickets/...

In some cases Wirral may provide a Student and Young Persons Arriva North West term-time only bus pass or a Helm's coach pass, if this is the most cost-effective method of providing home to school travel for eligible pupils.

We trust this information is of use to you.

Yours sincerely
