school attendance orders

The request was partially successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

How many school attendance orders has HCC pursued in the past year.
How many of these were specifically from within the deregistered elective home education community?

Yours faithfully,

Tania Berlow

Dear Ms Berlow,

Thank you for your email of 28 July where you requested information about:

How many school attendance orders has HCC pursued in the past year. How
many of these were specifically from within the deregistered elective home
education community?

From our preliminary assessment, it is clear that we will not be able to
answer your request without further clarification.

The County Council requires further information in order to identify and
locate the information you have asked for. Please could you clarify if you
are requesting the number of school attendance orders issued, or the
number of school attendance orders that have resulted in a prosecution.

Once I have received clarification, I will begin to process your request.
Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Children's Services Freedom of Information requests,

Yours sincerely,

Ms Berlow,

Thanks you for your response. Can you confirm that you would like us to
withdraw the following request from yourself:

1. How many school attendance orders has HCC pursued in the past year.
How many of these were specifically from within the deregistered
elective home education community?

Also, can you confirm if you would like to continue with the following
request or not:

2. I have just read HCC's response to one of the questionnaires
sent regarding the EHE review by Graham Badman. In it you state that
there are 420 EHE children registered in your LA.

In relation to questions 4 and 5 below- does the answer to question 4
only include the 420 registered home educated children or does this
percentage also include children missing education /truancy/attendance?

In relation to question 5, is this 4% referring to the same 4% answered
in question 4? Are these children still currently registered in school
but have attendance or exclusion issues or is this 4% from the 420
registered EHE children?

4. In your estimation, what proportion of your current caseload
is not receiving any education? 4%

5. In your estimation, what proportion are home educating to
avoid prosecution for attendance issues? 4%

Also HCC indicated they were wilng to have a more in-depth interview
with the Badman review team. Did this happen?
Lastly,90 local authorities responded to a longer questionnaire with 60
questions sent out by the Badman team but only 25 LA's responded as HCC
did to the shorter more in depth questionnaire. Did HCC recieve the
longer 60 questionnaire first ? Did HCC get selected for the shorter
questionnaire or did HCC volunteer to fill in this more in depth
questionnaire?

I would like to request what information, views and statistics were
provided by HCC to the Badman review into Elective Home Education, the
results of which were submitted to the Sec of State Ed Balls earlier in
July.

I would like to know what if any statistics are held by HCC as to the
number of home educated children in the county, how many informed you by
choice, how many are registered as being at risk and how this proportion
compares with abuse in families whose children attend school.
Additionally, for those families labelled as home educating, how many
are illegal immigrants?

Kind regards

Dear Children's Services Freedom of Information requests,

yes I do wish to continue with the other FOI request I have as it is slightly different than the one put in by L Thorn.

I am trying to acertain that the figures I am being given apply only to children deregistered from a school children in order to Electively home educate and also those never registered at any school.

Not children considered to be truanting or ill and are therefore technically still registered at a school but receiving EOTAS from the LA.
I also still wish to know whether HCC went on to a more indepth interview for the Badman Review and also to be give a copy of these responses.

Lastly, as far as the abuse / neglect statsistics I do see that a different FOI has been put in which covers that question so I will follow the results of that FOI instead.

Scrap the question about illegal immigrants.

thank you

Yours sincerely,

Tania Berlow
