Dear Ms Friend,

Thank you for your enquiry, which has been forwarded to the appropriate
officers for a response. The usual timescale for a response is twenty
working days, that is by or on 19.05.16.

If for any reason the Council needs to extend this timescale you will be
notified in accordance with the relevant legislation.

Please note that in 2012 the County Council adopted a position in
principle that FoI and EIR requests to West Sussex County Council and the
Council's responses may be published on the Council's website in a
suitably anonymised form. This is in addition to the individual response
to the requestor, and in line with the Council's commitment to
transparency and open data.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Martin,

Dear Ms Friend

I refer to your request dated 21 April 2016, which has been dealt with
under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Having now completed a search
for the information, I can confirm the Authority holds some of the
information relevant to the request:

Please can you let me know the figures on years 2013, 2014 and 2015 of
children that did not get into Steyning Grammar School as their First
Choice.

Please can you also provide me with numbers of children on the waiting
lists for those periods of times.

At allocation for these years the number of first preference not offered a
place at Steyning Grammar School for Y7:

2013  none

2014  59 on-time and 4 late

2015  63 on-time and 4 late

In all these years, all applications for entry into Y9 were offered a
place.

It is not possible to provide details about children on waiting lists in
previous years. Lists are set up after the allocation. The order of the
list is based on the admissions criteria for the school. In these years
parents needed to request to join the list. Places were offered as they
became available to the child at the top of the list. The lists are
constantly changing as parents request to join and offers are made.
