Dear Tower Hamlets Borough Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Tower Hamlets Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Schedule of Sweeping/Cleaning and removing weed growth.'.
Although I have been provided details of when the bin is emptied, there is no detail with regard to attending to the pathway with regard to sweeping and picking up litter or attending to weed growth and addressing the weeds on the river side of the river wall.
The weeds growing on the river side of the river wall are damaging to the integrity of the wall.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Dear Ralph Hardwick
Thank you for your request for a review received on 27 August 2024. I am
sorry that you are dissatisfied with our attempts to handle your request
under the under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I have considered your request for an internal review for the following
points raised.
Please can you confirm that the same team that empty the bins on the river
walkway are also required to sweep and litter pick?
Although I have been provided details of when the bin is emptied, there is
no detail with regard to attending to the pathway with regard to sweeping
and picking up litter or attending to weed growth and addressing the weeds
on the river side of the river wall.
The weeds growing on the river side of the river wall are damaging to the
integrity of the wall.
The cleansing team would be expected to sweep the ground and remove any
weeds on the scheduled cleansing days, this would include any weeds
growing from the ground alongside walls.
They would not be expected to remove weeds or foliage growing over walls
from private land.
If you are still dissatisfied with the Council's response after the
internal review you have a right of appeal to the Information Commissioner
at:
Information Commissioner's Office
Wycliffe House
Water Lane
Wilmslow

SK9 5AF
Telephone:01625 545 700
Further information about the operation of the act is available from the
council's website www.towerhamlets.gov.uk and the information leaflet in
public reception areas in Council Buildings.
