Ref: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST
We are writing to advise you that we must extend the time limit for providing our response
to you. We require further time to consider the public interest test under the section 24 of
the Freedom of Information Act (the Act), which relates to national security.
We are considering whether the public interest in neither confirming nor denying whether
we hold the information you requested outweighs the public interest in confirming whether
we hold it.
By virtue of section 10(3) of the Act, when public authorities have to consider the balance
of the public interest in relation to a request, they do not have to comply with the request
until such time as is reasonable in the circumstances. Owing to the need to consider, in
al the circumstances of the case, where the balance of the public interest lies in relation
to your request, we wil not be able to respond to your request in ful within 20 working
days. We hope to let you have a response by 23 May 2022. Please be assured that we
wil reply before that date if we can.
