your original questions with information that we have collated.

 

1 What make of Satnav equipment does SCAS use? Terrafix MDT system with
mapping supplied from OS as part of national licence

2 How much training do emergency crews receive in the use of Satnav
equipment? The emergency students receive approx 1-130 hour session on
Terrafix depending on the number of students and experience.

3 How often are the Satnav maps updated?  Yearly, although in process of
trailing Wi-Fi hub on vehicles to allow update more frequently.

4 What is the total cost of procuring and installing updated Satnav maps?
 £40K

5 What is the total cost of the procurement, installation and training of
the Satnav system for  the whole of SCAS? unsure as central national
contract procured via Dept of Health Central team.

6  Please can you provide details of the procurement process for the
purchase of the Satnav system for SCAS?  Central National contract
procured/ tendered through Dept Of Health  Central team for all English
Ambulance Trusts.

7 How often is the choice of Satnav system reviewed by SCAS?  National
contract every 10 years

8 Per year, how many feedback reports from emergency response vehicle
crews have reported delays in finding an address due to
inaccurate/misleading information provided by Satnav system? around 20

9 Per year, how many delays in finding an address have been caused by
crews not knowing how to use Satnav equipment correctly? No Data
