Dear Mr Osborne

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 24
November 2010 asking for information about private hire licences.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and I can confirm we do hold some of the information
you require.

1. Please could you provide me with a list of satellite office licenses
issued since 01 June 2010.

All licensed private hire operating centres must meet the same licensing
conditions and inspection criteria and are all classed as 'licensed
private hire operating centres'. There are not different categories, such
as 'satellite office' for licensing purposes.

Some information about licensed private hire operators is kept on
individual paper files and so cannot be easily collated and provided
electronically, but we have collated information about operators in
premises that are used for other purposes, this is not complete at present
but I have attached a list of the information we currently have available.

However please note that this information may be misleading on its own, as
an operator may hold a licence for a building but it may be only a certain
part of the building where bookings can be taken. For example it may be
that bookings can only be taken on a certain floor or only in the
basement, or there may be several different businesses in one building but
only one of them is licensed as a private hire operating centre. It is
also the case that any list we produce will quickly become out of date due
to new licences being granted or others being removed.

A full list of all licensed private hire operator trading centres is
available to view on the private hire public register held at our office
at Palestra, 4^th Floor - Yellow Zone (4Y7), 197 Blackfriars Road,
Southwark, London, SE1 8NJ. The public register will include private hire
operator trading centres in all types of premises including clubs, pubs
and other late night venues and will list operators where the licence was
issued both before and after 1 June 2010. If you would like to view this
please let me know.

2. Please could you also produce any documentation from the Metropolitan
Police that should have been submitted in support of any license issued
after 01 June 2010.

Since 1 June 2010 there have been four occasions where the police have
provided information supporting an application to licence a premises to
accept private hire bookings. The City of London Police and Metropolitan
Police have each supported an application on two occasions, this
information is attached.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
