salary
Dear Sacred Heart Catholic College, Crosby, Liverpool,
I would like to know how many pay rises the Headteacher has had since taking charge at the school, how often they have been granted, and who by.
I would also like to know how much his salary has increased over this period of time and what his salary is now. I believe this is in the public interest to know if he provides value for money or not.
I would also like to know how many cases in the past and current academic school years there have been involving Trade Unions in the school due to staff being bullied, under threat of redundancy or having their terms and conditions of employment or salary changed.
I also require the exact numbers of people who stated Sacred Heart as their first choice preference only for secondary education for the academic years of 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and for the next academic year of 2016-17
I require all this information as I believe it is in the public interest to know these facts so that they can make clear decisions about whether or not to send their child to this establishment
Yours faithfully,
Amanda J Crosby
Dear Sirs In response to your Freedom of Information Act request I am now

2. This information is specific to an individual and cannot be
disclosed.
3. The school cannot provide this information as to do so would
identify individuals and their personal data. The school enjoys open and
very productive relationships with the main Unions represented, who are
regularly invited in for discussion on matters of common interest.
4. First choice preference for academic years: 2013-14: 245 from

applicants; 2016-17: 187 from 403 applicants.
I note that this is your 11th request for multiple items of information.
The Headteacher and Governors again invite you into Sacred Heart to

Dear Lisa Orr,
I thank you for your response and indeed your invitation to meet with the Headteacher and Governing Body.
I prefer to have my questions answered on a public site, as sadly I have no confidence in either the Headteacher nor the Governing Body of the school, neither do many other people I have spoken to including parents, local residents and past and previous members of staff.
I disagree that giving me the amount of times that various Unions have been in school recently will identify the staff members involved. It won't. I have not asked for names, gender, ages, job roles or descriptions of the people making complaints against either the Headteacher or the governing body, I merely wish to know how many reported cases there have been, as I strongly believe that I have been given untruthful answers in the past. I certainly don't believe either that there have been "very productive relationships" between the Headteacher and Unions either. Thevschool appear to be adept at not answering questions that have been put to him previously and I firmly believe in transparency at every level rather than collusion to keep things quiet, or be economical with the truth.
I also believe that it is a matter of public interest as to how many pay rises he has been awarded since he took over from the previous Headteacher. Again, I am not asking for specific amounts, I merely wish to know how many times he has had an increase, as it would be very strange if there had been pay rises given after the previous two Ofsted reports, as he inherited a school at Grade 1 Outstanding and immediately took it down to a Grade 3 Requiring Improvement and then scraped up to a Grade 2. The Headteacher is answerable to the wider community; this is why myself and others would like to know how many times he has had a pay rise. Nobody knows what his salary is, or how much it has risen by, that is between him and the Governing Body. Merely telling me how many increases he has had will not in anyway reveal how much he earns.
The school no longer enjoys the excellent reputation it once had in the local community, the proof of this is in the lower amounts of locals choosing it as their first choice, Lower Site in particular is renowned for the appalling behaviour there, and each year in succession gets increasingly worse. No doubt due to the amount of people coming from outside the area, or not requesting it as first preference, and looking at the figures I have been provided with, it appears that parents are voting with their feet.
I will also be contacting the Arch Diocese regarding my recent communications and concerns, and if needs be requesting an internal review if I am not satisfied with responses to any questions I have asked on this or the previous 10 times of requiring information.
Yours sincerely,
Amanda J Crosby

Dear Amanda Crosby thank you for your e-mail of the 16th June and I apologise for the lateness of my reply. I am just e-mailing to confirm that your e-mail has been forwarded to Sacred Heart for your request to be considered by the Chair of Governors as an Internal Review and you should be contacted in due course with a response to your Freedom of Information request.
Kind Regards
Lisa Orr
Dear Sacred Heart Catholic College, Crosby, Liverpool,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Sacred Heart Catholic College, Crosby, Liverpool's handling of my FOI request 'salary'.
I am unhappy with the responses given so far by yourselves to me under this request . Asking for exact numbers of outstanding cases involving the Unions against the Headteacher is a matter of public interest, and in no way, shape or form will identify any member of staff, as I am not asking for the names, ages or genders of the individuals concerned to ensure they remain anonymous.
It is my belief that there is collusion between the Governing Body, Headteacher and possibly the Arch Diocese and Sefton Council as to the amount to of complaints against the Headteacher that are completely ignored and swept under the carpet. Why?
The school is in a position where it is a shadow of its former self, has a terrible reputation within the local community and has to resort to spending thousands of pounds on so called "festivals" in an attempt to encourage parents to send their children there. Never before has it had to resort to this, or have its open evening so early in the school year in a desperate attempt to try and persuade children to attend. As a member of the local community and a former student, it is saddening to witness the rapid demise, and dreadful behaviour and attitude of students who now attend the school. This can only be due to decisions made by the Headteacher and as earlier stated, I believe this is a matter of interest for the general public. The reputation rests solely on him, and to a lesser extent members of Senior Management. Rumours are rife that certain members of staff have been / are appointed without interviews and that jobs are unfairly given because of " friendships" they have, despite having little, or no experience to do the jobs they are given.
It is my firm belief that all these issues should be addressed in public, rather than hidden away behind closed doors or private communications. I expect a response as a matter of urgency.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...
Yours faithfully,
Amanda J Crosby
Dear Ms Crosby
Your request for an internal review is now underway.
The results of this review will be communicated to you as soon as
possible.
Steve Langton
Dear langtons,
This query has been ongoing for over 6 months. Why is it taking so long? Do I need to refer it to the Arch Diocese and local press?
Yours sincerely,
Amanda J Crosby
Dear Amanda Crosby, I am replying on behalf of the Governors to your
request for an Internal review. A panel of Governors have now considered
this and I am instructed to respond as follows.
1." I would like to know how many pay rises the Head Teacher has had
since taking charge at the school, how often they have been granted, and
who by." This information is covered by the Data Protection act
legislation. This information is specific to the head teacher and cannot
be disclosed.
2" I would also like to know how much his salary has increased over this
period of time and what his salary is now. I believe this is in the public
interest to know if he provides value for money or not." This information
is covered by the Data Protection act legislation. This information is
specific to the head teacher and cannot be disclosed.
In relation to points 1 and 2 above, the Governors believe that the
disclosure of this information would breach the first principle of the
Data Protection Act as the information relates directly to a living,
identifiable individual. Specifically the first principle requires that
“personal data shall be processed fairly and lawfully and, in particular,
shall not be processed
unless –
(a) at least one of the conditions in Schedule 2 is met, and
(b) in the case of sensitive personal data, at least one of the conditions
in Schedule 3 is also met.”
The Governors believe that the individual involved has a reasonable
expectation that their exact salary will not be disclosed to a third
party, as it could lead to an infringement of their legitimate right to
privacy that is not outweighed by the interests of the public; therefore
disclosure is exempt under Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information
Act.
3". I would also like to know how many cases in the past and current
academic school years there have been involving Trade Unions in the
school due to staff being bullied, under threat of redundancy or having
their terms and conditions of employment or salary changed". The school
cannot provide this information as in doing could risk exposure of any
individuals concerned and therefore breach their data. As has previously
been communicated the school has an open and productive relationship with
the main unions and they are regularly invited into the school for
discussions on matters of common interest
The governors would once again invite you into the College to discuss your
concerns. As you have expressed discomfort with this suggestion in the
past, they would be more than happy for you to invite third parties from
the local authority and the archdiocese for an open and honest discussion.
This would allow you to raise any concerns regarding the college
If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of the internal review then you
can write to the information commissioner who can determine this matter
further. The information commissioner can be contacted at the
Information Commissioners Office at Wycliffe House, Water Lane Wilmslow
