This FOI request will feature in later research about reasons requestees fail to respond, or fail to respond within the statutory timescale, or fail to respond fully.

Financial Accountability and Freedom of Information, Salford City Academy

Dear Ruth Hopwood

Freedom of Information Act 2000
Salaries of senior staff

The Freedom of Information Act is successfully being used to obtain information from academies throughout England and Wales about salaries of senior staff.

A request for information concerning Salford City Academy was sent to the academy on 2 September 2015 via WhatDoTheyKnow.com. A reminder to respond was sent to Ruth Hopwood on 26 September 2015. Salford City Academy's response to the FOI request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, the academy should have responded by now.

My emails were definitely received by your email server as has been demonstrated by examining log files.

I am emailing you separately and attaching a copy of the internal review procedure issued by the Ministry of Justice to which by law the school and governors who will carry out the review must comply should I decide to initiate this process.

I am, however, requesting you respond to a separate FOI request asking for the same information, as follows. The timescale to respond to this request ( a maximum of 20 working days) will commence as soon as you receive this email, but will take into account school holidays. Proof of delivery, if needed, can be obtained through examining log excerpts. When you respond, my FOI request of 2 September 2015 will be withdrawn.

In line with the government’s view that transparency is the foundation of local accountability and parallel with the Local Government Transparency Code 2015 (sections 48 & 49), published on 27 February 2015, I am requesting the following data about United Learning Trust’s employees with cost code Salford City Academy:

1/ the number of staff whose remuneration in the last year was at least £50,000 in brackets of £5,000;

2/ details of remuneration and job titles of senior employees whose remuneration in that year was at least £50,000 in brackets of £5,000;

3/ the name of any staff member whose salary is £150,000 or more;

4/ details of bonuses and ‘benefits in kind’ for all staff based at Salford City Academy whose salaries exceed £50,000.

Thank you for your precious time.

Yours sincerely

Peter D Williams
