Dear Mr Clifford,
Thank you for your request for information regarding the Council's corporate safeguarding training (reference number 33786); please see our response below. If you have any queries regarding your request for information then please don't hesitate to contact me.
The Corporate Safeguarding Awareness programme is a mandatory training course that all Blackburn with Darwen employees are expected to attend.
The programme was commissioned to meet one of the councils key corporate priorities (i.e. Safeguarding Vulnerable People). A supplier was selected following an invitation to quote exercise in which various providers of Safeguarding training was asked to submit how they would meet the councils requirements.
Following this exercise a 12 month contract was awarded to Blackburn College. The award was based:
• The level of experience and knowledge in delivering safeguarding training to a varied audience
• Flexibility to meet the needs of the council
• Ability to deliver frequent programmes
• Ability to provide training venues
• Cost
The cost of the training is £15 per person and so far 42 sessions have been run. As the training is ongoing and dependant on the final number of participants we do not hold the total cost of the training.
