Safeguarding: Policy and Procedure
Dear North Highland College,
Does your college have a named safeguarding officer?
If your college was considering enrolling a student who was listed on the sex offenders register, how would you deal with such a situation?
What is your risk assessment procedure in such a situation?
What types of mitigation would you consider as a result of any risk assessment procedure?
How do you record these processes, and what are your retention periods for the data?
Yours faithfully,
Mrs Maclean

Good morning,
Please find attached a response for your freedom of Information request.
Enrolling a student on the sex offender's register - The student should have a support worker and it is there responsibility to notify the college if the student is listed on the sex offender's register. The Department Head of the area in which the student would be studying in conjunction with the Safeguarding Team compile a risk assessment. Mitigation which would be considered: contact with students under 16, vulnerable adults, supervision if deemed necessary, exclusion from some areas e.g. changing rooms where under 16's or vulnerable adults may be. The information would be recorded on a Risk Assessment Form. form and the risk calculated.
Kind Regards
