I wish to request the following information:

During 2014, what was the number of safeguarding issues for providers of care for people with learning disabilities?

For the issues identified in question 1, how are these divided by provider of care for people with learning disabilities?

What was the nature of each reported safeguarding issue?

What was the category of risk of each reported safeguarding issue?

What is your Local Authority’s policy and procedure following abuse of a learning disability patient?

Brighton and Hove City Council

During 2014, what was the number of safeguarding issues for providers of care for people with learning disabilities?
• 20 safeguarding situations were notified to the Adult Social Care Contracts Unit

For the issues identified in question 1, how are these divided by provider of care for people with learning disabilities?
• They are collated into care home, supported living/accommodation, community support, day services and home care.

What was the nature of each reported safeguarding issue?
• The issues were categorised as follows (some fall into more than one area): neglect, physical, sexual, financial, psychological, emotional and institutional

What was the category of risk of each reported safeguarding issue?
• Not all of the instances have been finally categorised as some of them are still under investigation – to date we have:
o Level 1 – 5
o Level 2 – 5
o Level 3 – 4
o Level 4 – 1
o Not safeguarding - 1

What is your Local Authority’s policy and procedure following abuse of a learning disability patient?
