Dear Ms Murphy
I write following your Freedom of Information requests dated the 22^nd
July 2024 and further to my colleague’s email to you dated 30^th September
2024 requesting an extension of time to respond.
I have now received the information for our response, which is shown
below:-
1. Please provide all information held in relation to mixed sex/ gender
neutral toilets for students/pupils on your school site/campus. This
should include material related to the opening of such facilities and
if and when they ceased to be operational.
I can confirm the school has one block of gender-neutral toilets on site
and it comprises of segregated cubicles. This block began to be used as
gender neutral in October 2021 and continues to be gender-neutral now.
2. Please provide the school’s policy on mixed sex/single sex
facilities. Please provide all information held in relation to
safeguarding of female students/pupils in your school toilets/changing
facilities with reference to the protected characteristic of sex under
the Equality Act 2010. The Equality Act 2020 provides that
students/pupils should not suffer discrimination. The responsible body
of such a school must not discriminate against a pupil in the way it
provides education for the pupil; in the way it affords the pupil
access to a benefit, facility or service; by not providing education
for the pupil; by not affording the pupil access to a benefit,
facility or service; by excluding the pupil from the school; by
subjecting the pupil to any other detriment.
I can confirm that the school does not have a policy on mixed sex/single
sex facilities but I can refer you to the school’s [1]Child Protection &
Safeguarding Policy. If students need the toilet during lesson times,
they are expected to use the toilets closest to their classrooms. If this
is the gender-neutral toilets and students do not wish to use them, there
is a single accessible toilet in close proximity available to them. During
break and lunchtimes, students’ toilets are grouped by year group to
prevent older students being in the same toilets as younger students. At
these times, Year 7 and 8 areas are gender neutral toilets; they also have
an accessible toilet open to them and a further block of single sex
toilets.
3. Please provide information held on all the incidents of rape/sexual
assault on the school premises which have been reported to the school
or a member of the school staff within the last 18 months.
I can confirm that no incidents of rape/sexual assault have taken place on
the school premises within the last 18 months.
4. Please provide information held on all the incidents of rape/sexual
assault on the school premises which have been reported to the Police
(regardless of outcome) within the last 18 months.
None
5. Please provide information held on all the reported or alleged
incidents which took place in mixed sex/gender neutral toilets or
changing facilities.
None
6. Please provide details of any and all external organisations which
have provided legal advice, training, training materials, teaching
materials related to “gender identity” within the period 1 January
2022 to date, including those whose materials are freely accessible
online which have been accessed by staff or students at your school.
Staff training in this area was completed in Spring 2024, with support
from the Intercom Trust.

get in touch with us at [2][email address].
