S.106 Refunds - Belvedere Development Cambridge
Dear Cambridge City Council,
In March 2010 Cambridge City Council refunded a series of S.106 contributions which had been paid in respect of The Belvedere development on Homerton Street / Hills Road in Cambridge. The total returned was £49,894.26.
The payments refunded included:
* A £34,575 affordable housing contribution.
* Contributions to informal open space of £14,523.00
Could you please let me know:
1. Why these refunds were made.
2. If, across the city, there have been any refunds of S.106 contributions since the 1st of April 2009 because the council have failed to spend the funds within the time period specified by the S.106 agreement.

The Cambridge News is reporting today that the Cambridge City Council's East Area committee has been looking for ways to spend £800,000 of developer contributions quickly before the time limits on spending the money are reached.
