Rules on impartiality

The request was refused by British Broadcasting Corporation.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

In tweets between BBC presenters Gary Lineker and Neil Henderson, Home and Foreign News Editor & Tomorrow’s, on 22nd August 2022 Gary Lineker was asked by Mr Henderson. “ Does not our duty of impartiality apply across the BBC?”

Mr Lineker believes in his publicly published response, “Only in news and current affairs, surely you know this”.

Who is right ; and if impartiality rules apply wider than news and current affairs, what disciplinary action, as outlined previously by Tim Davie is now being taken in relation to tweets made by Mr Linker on 22nd August which clearly breach impartiality?

Yours faithfully,

Paul Jones
