Rotherhithe Movement Plan Saturdays, validation and counts

Southwark Borough Council did not have the information requested.

Rotherhithe Area Housing Forum

Dear Southwark Borough Council,

Please can you provide us with the following:

a) A copy of all traffic data (counts etc) collected on Saturdays used to make the Rotherhithe Movement Plan or to validate any modelling;

b) A copy of any traffic data (counts etc) used to validate modelling used to produce Rotherhithe Movement Plan;

c) A copy of any verification reports produced for the Rotherhithe Movement Plan;

d) Please let us know who might hold this information if you do not hold it.

Public interest

TfL modelling uses Monday to Friday data however problems with Saturday traffic in Rotherhithe were made clear in the
Development Impact Report, Rotherhithe Multi Modal Study, SRMMS (AM/PM/Saturday)
29 January 2010
https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/atta...
The complete RMMS was very expensive and informed the Canada Water Area Action Plan.
It is essential that any major planning application or plan carefully considers Saturdays which can be very congested in Rotherhithe and Rotherhithe Multi Modal Study, SRMMS (AM/PM/Saturday) is evidence of that importance. Failing carefully Saturdays could be a serious flaw in any plan or application and harm to residents could be the result.

TfL, whose modelling tools you use, makes clear for model validation that the validity of a model should be assessed by comparing the model volumes and travel times against field observations. It is not adequate to just produce a model and then not go onto to collect field observations to verify it. The public needs to know that a model relied upon by Southwark Council was properly validated.

Residents in Rotherhithe Ward are very angry about how the Rotherhithe Movement Plan was produced.

Yours faithfully,
Rotherhithe Area Housing Forum
