Dear Mr Isles,

TfL Ref: FOI-2843-1718

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9
January 2018 asking for roof codes and registration numbers for all buses
operating TfL routes. I apologise for the delay in replying to you.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can
confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

Would you provide a full list of complete rooftop codes (being
prefix-operator code-number), along with the associated registration
numbers, for all buses operating TfL routes please?

Please find attached the information you requested. The document is a
snapshot of the contracted bus fleet at the time of publication, based on
information provided to TfL by contracted bus operators.

The data also includes the make and model of the vehicle, basic attributes
(dimensions, etc) and shows the age and the fuel and emission standards of
the vehicle.

The data is used in summary form by TfL to document how modern and clean
the fleet is and how we have adapted purchasing policy to harness the best
and most appropriate emission reducing technologies for London.

Where a bus route is shown, this is the route the best was contracted to
operate on. As bus operators can (and do) move buses between routes to
maintain an effective service, the information cannot be used to ascertain
which buses are operating on a route at any particular date or time.

There are no plans to provide this data in other formats or more
frequently than at the quarterly fleet audit review. Where ‘Unknown’ is
shown in the data set, the value has not been supplied to TfL or has not
been validated.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the enclosed information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,

Melissa Nichols
