Road works and closures by local authority

We're waiting for Jamie Dixon to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Brent Borough Council,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information for the last calendar year (1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024):

1. The total number of road works carried out within your council locality. This refers only to road works undertaken by the authority or its contractors on behalf of the council. It does not include street works undertaken by utility companies, their contractors, or private developers.

2. The total number of road closures due to road works within your council locality. This includes full road closures, partial road closures, and nighttime closures.

3. The duration of each road work project carried out within your council locality.

If available, please provide:
Start date
End date (or indicate if still ongoing)

If the project lasted less than a day, please provide the duration in hours where possible.

4. The duration of each road closure due to road works within your council locality.

If available, please provide:
Start date
End date (or indicate if still ongoing)

If the closure lasted less than a day, please provide the length in hours where possible.

If this request exceeds the cost limit under the FOI Act, please advise how it may be refined to remain within statutory limits.

You requested the following information:

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the
following information for the last calendar year (1 January 2024 to 31
December 2024):

1.    The total number of road works carried out within your council
locality. This refers only to road works undertaken by the authority or
its contractors on behalf of the council. It does not include street works
undertaken by utility companies, their contractors, or private developers.

 

There have been 8,330 total repairs undertaken. Of these, 5,968 were via
our reactive maintenance program and 2,362 were via our carriageway
injection patching program. Please see breakdown of defect types repaired
via our reactive maintenance program below.

 

 2. The total number of road closures due to road works within your
council locality. This includes full road closures, partial road
closures, and nighttime closures.

See attached.

 3. The duration of each road work project carried out within your council
locality.

If available, please provide:

Start date

End date (or indicate if still ongoing)

If the project lasted less than a day, please provide the duration in

hours where possible.

We can only provide the time between the work being ordered and completed.
It is not possible to extract the time the actual work took onsite and we
are unable to supply a time for this as this information is not recorded
on our system.

Please see attached PDF “Duration of reactive works Jan – Dec 2024”.
Please note      where it states 0 under “days to compete” this means the
works were completed in under 24 hours.

 4. The duration of each road closure due to road works within your
council locality.
