Road Traffic Collisions involving London Buses
Dear Transport for London,
Could you please provide me with counts, broken down by year for at least the last 10 years, of the number of London Buses involved in Road Traffic Collisions. Could these counts please be split by route number, and distinguish whether or not the bus was operating at the time of the collision.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Brown

Dear Mr Brown
Our ref: FOI-0258-1415
Thank you for your email received on 21 May 2014 asking for information
about Road Traffic Collisions involving London Buses.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that
we do hold the information you require.
Please see the attached spreadsheet showing collisions by bus route.
Each incident record on the spreadsheet represents a collision event.
The data covers the nine years to date since safety records were
centralised. The noticeable increase in the number of collisions
reported from 2010 is mainly attributed to the introduction of a new
safety reporting system with more user-friendly classification and
reporting of incidents. Where the bus was not in operation, the route
have been given as Out of Service (OOS). The calendar year 2014
includes data from January to April.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are
unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
Graham Hurt
