Road traffic accident

The request was refused by Newham Borough Council.

Dear Newham Borough Council,

I was involved in a road traffic accident on Thursday 13th September 2018 at approx. 7.13am. The accident occurred on the beckton roundabout near the UEL (heading towards London city airport). The vehicle which hit me failed to stop and he sped off so quick that I didn't get to catch the number plate.
Can you please obtain CCTV footage for insurance purposes if there are any cameras on that roundabout?

Yours faithfully,
Jessica Boswell

Newham Borough Council

Thank you for your email. We have responded to your repeated requests with the following information:

Your request should be made directly to Newham's CCTV Control Centre.

It may be helpful to know that they cannot provide data directly to a member of the public. I would therefore advise you to report the incident to your Insurance company, Legal Representative or the Police and the Council may be able to assist them under Section 35 of the Act. This would be subject to the correct documentation being completed and the payment of the appropriate fee release footage to them.

I would stress that CCTV footage is only held for thirty days. After this time it is automatically erased.

Your chosen representative should contact the CCTV Control Room via the following details:
CCTV Control Room, Central Depot, Folkestone Road, London, E6 6BX; Email: [email address]; Telephone : 0208 430 2000

Yours sincerely,
