Dear Monmouthshire County Council,

Due to a non- response - from MCC:

Two adjacent roads to have the same name.

Yet your own policy states:

'The suggested street or property naming scheme will not be the same or similar to any existing names in Monmouthshire to avoid possible confusion and duplication. Neither will they be the same or similar to any now demolished or redundant streets or buildings in the area'.

....Due to a procession of lost delivery drivers and the emergency services which maybe unable to quickly attend addresses with the two same-name roads - should there be an emergency - please provide me with the complete costings for naming a road.

Yours faithfully,

JT Oakley

Freedom of Information responses during Covid-19

During the pandemic we know that we won’t be able to respond to requests
in the normal way and will need to prioritise other services and adapt our
usual approach during this extraordinary period. Whilst Monmouthshire will
try to get a response out, you will understand that existing or future
requests may be much slower than usual or not at all.

We have contacted the ICO who have stated that they understand that
resources, whether they are financial or people, might be diverted away
from usual compliance or information governance work. They won’t penalise
organisations that they know need to re-organise workloads.

Online Form:If you are sending a new freedom of information request, next
time try using our [1]online form which automates the processing of your
request and if you register, you will receive updates about your request
via email.

Dear Monmouthshire County Council,

Thank you.

As explained, I have already sent the request to Monmouthshire County Council some time ago.

Plus my MP has written to MCC for an explanation.

Unfortunately he has had no luck either.

And still no reply to me.

I would presume that the clock starts ticking on the initial request.

But under the circumstances if the COVID-19 pandemic, I would appreciate it if you could furnish an answer to the request within the normal time scale.

Yours faithfully,

Jt Oakley

MCC - Freedom of Information, Monmouthshire County Council

Good morning,

I have forwarded the request to the service area for their response. The clock started ticking yesterday (day 1 is the first working day after we receive the request) making a due date of 4th September (to account for the bank holiday Monday, a non-working day).

Dear MCC - Freedom of Information,

You have not replied to your FOI request Road name costing promptly, as normally required by law.

Do you wish to provide the information within the next few days, or should I refer to the Information Commissioner’s Office - as a non-response?

Yours sincerely,

Jt Oakley

Freedom of Information and the Coronavirus Covid-19

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. During the height of
the pandemic and lockdown period a number of our staff were redeployed

this backlog and get up to date.

We are still processing requests and sending responses as soon as we are
able, and hopefully within the prescribed deadlines though we can’t
guarantee that at the moment.

Diolch i chi am eich cais Rhyddid Gwasanaeth. Yn ystod brig y pandemig a’r

Dear Monmouthshire County Council,

By the way, I shall be entering the original March request With evidence.

This is a continuation, since I could not get a response then - from the officer concerned.

If I have tried TWO ways to get a response to a simple request for information , as other councils readily provide, then that should be taken into consideration.

Yours faithfully,

Jt Oakley

Good afternoon,

I refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

You asked:

....Due to a procession of lost delivery drivers and the emergency
services which maybe unable to quickly attend addresses with the two
same-name  roads - should there be an emergency - please provide me
with the complete costings for naming a road.

The response to your request is as follows:

In response to this specific question regarding costs, we can
confirm that it would be £213.13 + £56.38 per plot (four) plus the
cost of replacement street nameplates. In total, this would be
around £650 (the exact cost would depend on the cost of the
replacement street nameplate).

Please find attached Street Naming and Numbering policy, see section
4.5 Street Renaming at Residents’ Request for further information.

If you are dissatisfied with the way the Council has handled your
request for information, you can request a review by e-mail
to [1][email address] or by writing to:
