Dear Mr Bilton ,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Please find the response to your request below.

1.Can you supply your policy regarding how often painted road markings are inspected and painted, including single yellow lines and double yellow lines?

Classified roads are inspected monthly by area technicians and refreshed when identified as faded.

We have a framework in place for roadmarking, tendered every 4 years - next due in 2019

All highway works are open tendered. For roadmarking relevant Highway Sector Scheme qualification is mandatory . Maintenance work is done through the above frame work. Small scale new markings are also done through the framework. All markings for major projects are arranged by the main contractor. All such contracts are awarded via open tender and the winning bidder is listed on both contracts finder and the council's own tendering portal (YORtender).

4.What is the name of the department that is responsible for road marking?

Highways and Transportation.

5.Can you provide me with the name and contact details of the person who is responsible for tendering and allocating road marking projects within the council?
