Dear Dorset Police,

Please could you provide me with killed and seriously injured counts for the Dorset Police area for each of the years between 2005 and 2018

Yours faithfully,

Ian Belchamber

Thank you for your email submitted to the Freedom of Information (FOI)
Team for Dorset Police and Devon & Cornwall Police.

If your email relates to a new FOI request please accept this
auto-response as a formal acknowledgement.

Should we need to clarify any aspect of your request we will contact you
regarding this but please be aware that the 20 working day deadline will
not begin until the clarification has been received.

If your email relates to an ongoing request we will respond to your email
as soon as possible.

Please note that we are experiencing high volumes of requests and staff
shortages which, in some cases, is impacting on our ability to comply with
the 20 working day statutory deadline. Please be assured that we are
working on all current and outstanding requests and will get a response to
you as soon as possible. Please bear in mind that when we receive
enquiries regarding late requests, responding to these enquiries can cause

Dear Mr Belchamber,

As per the letter sent to you on the 31st January 2012 this topic, Dorset Road Safety and traffic related matters, is exempt by virtue of Section 14 (1) on the grounds of being vexatious. As a result there is no obligation for Dorset Police to answer this request and it will not be processed further.

Yours sincerely,

Dear .Freedom of Information,

I have checked section 14(1) and there is absolutely no justification for refusing to answer, particularly such a simple question. Please could you also read section 14(1) and if this does not change your position, please escalate this request to internal review

Note that the letter sent to me some 7 years ago does not comply with the rules of freedom of information.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Belchamber

Dear FOI,
As you point out, "you can refuse it only if it also meets the criteria for being vexatious".
There is nothing about my question which meets any of the criteria in any way.
The links you provide do not include the yearly figures I have requested or are for the Dorset Council area, this does not match the Dorset Police area as it does not include large areas like Bournemouth.

If Dorset Police has this data (and it most certainly should) then it would already have been easier and cheaper to provide it (just 14 numbers) than it has been to produce the replies so far trying to dodge providing these simple numbers.

In the meantime I have done some work to extract the figures I need from annual UK stats19 data and it confirms my concerns about appalling failures ongoing at Dorset Police. It is no surprise that Dorset Police also continues to abuse its Freedom of Information responsibilities. I am therefore happy to leave this enquiry as refused, and further evidence of bad practice at Dorset Police.

I will be releasing a major update on the website that you are aware of probably in the next week, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Belchamber
