Road accident data for Heol Tir Y Coed, Glanaman & Mountain Road, Ammanford

Daniel Morris made this Freedom of Information request to Carmarthenshire Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Carmarthenshire Council,

Please provide all recorded details that the Council holds for road traffic accidents along Heol Tir Y Coed Glanaman and its continuation as Mountain Road to the junction with Wern Ddu, Ammanford.

I would hope such information would include at least the date/time of the incident and the location of accident. Ideally I'd like a breakdown of the number and type of vehicles involved(bus, car, skip lorry, van, heavy goods vehicle, motor bike etc), number of pedestrians, number of cyclists, number of horse-riders, number and species of animals (dog, horse, goat etc) as well as a summary of damage to property. If the Council records a cause for the accident (driving impaired by alcohol or drugs, ice on road etc) then please also provide this.

Yours faithfully,

D Morris

Data provided grouped as part of other request:

However seems incomplete, so asking for a single internal review.

After a promising start the review demonstrated a considerable semantic gap - "The Police do not provide the Council with details of any road traffic incidents which do not involve personal injury." The data recorded/held is claimed to be accurate but has already been filtered by the Police to a narrower definition of an "accident" than a lay person would perhaps expect.
