Risk assessments for mandatory volunteer courses
Dear Surrey County Council,
Please kindly provide a copy of the risk assessments carried out specifically for mandatory volunteer courses. These assessments would have been carried out with a view to preventing damage to the mental or physical health of volunteers as part of your duty of care.
'Mandatory' means must be completed no matter what the purpose of the course(s).

Please kindly provide a copy of the risk assessments carried out
specifically for mandatory volunteer courses. These assessments would
have been carried out with a view to preventing damage to the mental or
physical health of volunteers as part of your duty of care.
'Mandatory' means must be completed no matter what the purpose of the
course(s).
The Libraries’ Service confirm that they do not carry out any formal risk
assessments to people’s mental or physical wellbeing before carrying out
training. They select people for suitability of role prior to training
which minimises risk. They are also mindful and sensitive to potential
areas of upset eg Library Direct ask their volunteers to undergo
safeguarding training- either online or in class. During the classroom
training people are asked to feel free to leave the room if they find
anything upsetting, and the trainer promises to find them if they do not
return after a little while.

Countryside have supplied the attached risk assessments.
We do not understand there to be any other separate risk assessments.
