Dear Jason,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request below. Please find attached the Data regarding physical assault (injury/treatment Required).

Physical assault - Actual Physical assault from 01/01/18 - Date were 169 of which 37 required further treatment, this treatment primarily consisted of self-administered analgesia / minor treatment in A&E for minor cuts/abrasions etc. or checks for musculoskeletal type injuries.

Blunt force trauma - Have listed the type/nature of the assaults on the spreadsheet as it was not clear what information you were looking for. If it is for staff being beaten /bludgeoned with baseball bats etc. then the answer is None.

Knife - Thankfully there have been no incidents of staff being subject to actual assaults with knives in which injuries were sustained.

With regards to PPE this is worn for infection control purposes and would include aprons, gloves, masks etc. PPE would not be worn for personal protection as situations where crews are at risk of injury would be risk assessed by crews and police attendance would be requested where necessary.
