Right to Choose - ADHD
Dear NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board,
If you are registered with a GP surgery in England and you are referred by a GP to a consultant or specialist in mental health, you have the legal right to choose the organisation (qualified provider) to whom you are referred, as long as that organisation is providing that service in another part of England.
Can you tell me under the NHS right to choose agenda:
a) how many individuals since 2020 have chosen to receive an assessment and or treatment for ADHD from a provider other than your commissioned provider
b) Could you also tell me the total value spent on these private ADHD providers for the following financial years:
a. 2020/2021
b. 2021/2022
c. 2022/2023
d. 2023 – Year to date
Yours faithfully,
James
Dear James
Many thanks for your email dated 02 July 2023. In order to assist the ICB may we ask that you clarify your full name. We are asking this to ensure we are upholding your full rights under the legislation.
Section 8 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 states requesters should use their “real name”. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the Regulator, upholds this stance and would not handle a complaint submitted using a pseudonym. The ICO has published several guidance documents regarding this
e.g. https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio... in particular see from paragraph 14 onwards and
https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio...
For clarity please be aware the ICB is not questioning the validity of this or any request, the seriousness of this or any request or the motives behind the making of any request; the ICB wishes to ensure best practice is followed, and best use of public funds, in line with the Section 45 Code of Practice regarding request handling.
Once the clarification is received, we can progress.
Kind regards
Lindsay Parker
