RFID use in West Cheshire College after student location system ceased February 2013.

Pippa King made this Freedom of Information request to West Cheshire College

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear West Cheshire College,

Under the Freedom of Information Act please could you supply the following information within 20 working days.

I am aware your system to use location tracking for students has now ceased however:

1) Please advise if the college has ceased all use of RFID or is West Cheshire College still using RFID to track assets, as detailed in your response 7th December the RFID was used to track "movement of physical assets i.e. ipads, laptops and camera equipment".

2) If yes to question 1, please advise if RFID tags are active or passive.

3) As per your response of 4th February http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/in... there are "55 CCTV cameras at Chester Campus and 84 at Ellesmere Port Campus". Please advise the company that supplies/supplied the CCTV.

4) Please advise if the CCTV cameras at West Cheshire College campuses have the capability to interact with the RFID used, either with the physical asset tracking system used now, or previously, or with the student RFID locator systems recently aborted.

If you need further clarification, please contact me by email. My preferred format to receive the information is electronically, but I can accept hard copies.

Some parts of this request may be easier to answer than others, and in such case please could you release available data as soon as possible rather than delay the entire request.

If the costs of processing this request exceed the limit in the Act, please advise on what information you are able to supply within the cost limit.

Thank you for your information to date about the college's use of RFID. Your time in this matter is appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

Pippa King
