Revoking the honour of MBE of former Southampton Manager Lawrie Mcmenemy
Dear Main Honours Advisory Committee,
I have seen today that a decision has been made to revoke the reward of an MBE to ex Crewe manager Dario Gradi due to his connections with Prolific Pedophile Barry Bennell.
I wonder if you would consider doing the same to Ex Southampton manager Lawrie Mcmenemy for his role in employing another prolific Pedophile Bob Higgins. I am a victim of this disgraced football coach who was convicted of 48 counts back in 2019. Mcmenemy who claims he had no knowledge that Sexual abuse was happening under his watch, kept Higgins employed for over 20 years under his watch. Higgins was never vetted and never even had a coaching license when Mcmenemy brought him to the club.
I for one minute do not except Mcmenemy claims that he never had an incline that kids stayed over at Higgins house over a period of 20 years. I saw Chris Mcmenemy, Lawries son at Higgins house on numerous occasions when young boys was staying there. As Mcmenemy was Higgins boss, you would have thought that he would be keeping an eye on the coaching of kids etc.
Whether he knew or not, Mcmenemy must take some responsibility of bringing Higgins to Southampton Football Club to exploit and sexually abuse hundreds of kids. Our lives have been ruined by these people. Having the honour of having an MBE is disgraceful and should be revoked immediately if you are doing the same to Dario Gradi for the same actions.
I hope you understand my point and look forward to hearing from you on this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Lee Smith

"The object of giving medals, stars and ribbons is to give pride and
pleasure to those who have deserved them. At the same time a distinction
is something which everybody does not possess. If all have it, it is of
less value. There must, therefore, be heartburnings and disappointments on
the borderline. A medal glitters, but it also casts a shadow. The task of
drawing up regulations for such awards is one which does not admit of a
perfect solution. It is not possible to satisfy everybody without running
the risk of satisfying nobody. All that is possible is to give the
greatest satisfaction to the greatest number and to hurt the feelings of
the fewest." Winston Churchill
