Reviews of police constables employment......

The request was partially successful.

Dear Devon and Cornwall Constabulary,

Do police constables have reviews of their employment, lets say every three years to check for criminal records ?

Do you do risk assessments on people who have criminal records wanting to be police constables?

Do inform your public liability insurers about police officers with criminal records?

Yours faithfully,

peter danby and associates.

Dear Devon and Cornwall Constabulary,

1) You have not given me a specific answer to when police constables have reviews of their employment for criminal records. Annual reviews is not acceptable, i want a specific answer".

2) So why was convicted paedophile PCSO Peter Bunyan employed from 2003 till 2013 with no thought of the complaints that were being made against him allowed to continue to work ?

3) Criminal Records Bureau checks were first introduced in the UK in March 2003, so why was PCSO Peter Bunyan allowed to continue in his employment even though he was a paedophile ?

4) Why are your public liability insurers not being made aware of the police employing convicted paedophiles?

5) What where your stringent risk assessments in 2003 regarding employing people with criminal records ?

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Danby
Further to your email asking for an Internal Review could I please raise the following points?

Your original question was:
"Do police constables have reviews of their employment, let’s say every three years to check for criminal records?"

This was fully answered that officers are subject to an annual review which includes a criminal records check. If this is not sufficient to answer the question could you be more clear as to what you expect as a 'specific answer'?

With regards to Q2 to 5 you cannot request an Internal Review for these questions as they haven't previously been submitted as an FOI Request

Therefore could you confirm the following:

Do you still wish to proceed with an Internal Review for Q1?
Do you wish us to take Q2 to 5 as a new Freedom of Information request?

Once I have your response we can continue with your internal review and/or freedom of information request

Yours sincerely,

Dear Devon and Cornwall Constabulary,

Can you answer more specifically when you say annual criminal records checks, is it 3 years, is it every 5 years? I would like a specific definition of what is annual ?

kind regards

Dear Mr Danby,
By annual we mean once a year - i.e. every 12 months

I asked for a specific question to be answered, i got a result at last" i can now understand why so many people have little faith in the UK police !
