Dear Rachel

Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA)

FOI request ref : 16554 : Gender Reassignment Policy Review : Request for
clarification

Thank you for providing your full name and I apologise for having to ask
you for more help please.

We referred your request to colleagues, for their assistance in providing
a response, and they have asked me to come back to you asking if you would
provide more detail about the review and " the decision to withdraw this
policy" as they had no knowledge of this.

We have a Gender Reassignment Policy, which I have attached for your
information, and it is due for review in March but this is routine with
all our various policies for them to be reviewed from time to time to
ensure that the information in them is up to date and accurate.

Until we receive this clarification from you we are unable to proceed with
your request and hope to hear from you soon.

With many thanks for your assistance in this matter.

Best Regards

Kay

Dear FOI BOARD HQ,

Thank you for your response and apologies for providing insufficient information.

The Times Newspaper has an article dated the 28 December 2020 with the title "NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde withdraws trans advice for female-only wards" available at https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/nhs-g... (but might be subject to a paywall).

In the article it states

"NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde issued guidance this year to staff which equated women who express concern about sleeping next to trans patients to people harbouring racial prejudice. The guidance was reviewed and the health board has confirmed that it has been shelved indefinitely."

I assumed that the guidance that was withdrawn was the Gender Reassignment Policy, but there might be other guidance that I am not aware of. Alternatively the Times story might not be accurate.

Yours sincerely,

R Bowyer

Dear FOI BOARD HQ,

My understanding is that I should have received a response by the 3 February to my request. However, fully appreciate that the COVID emergency is putting exceptional pressure on the NHS at the moment. However, when you have time, would it be possible to provide a status update on my request.

Yours sincerely,

Rachel Bowyer

Dear Greater Glasgow NHS Board,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Greater Glasgow NHS Board's handling of my FOI request 'Review of Gender Reassignment Policy'.

I appreciate the pressure the NHS is under at the moment due to the COVID emergency, but by law in all circumstances I am due a reply to my Freedom of Information Request, which is now many weeks overdue.

If you need any more information from me, please let me know and I will be happy to help.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...

Yours faithfully,

R Bowyer

Dear FOI BOARD HQ,

Thank you for your help. I am happy with you response to my request. Please cancel the "internal review" as this is now clearly moot.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Ms Bowyer

Thank you for your further email.  I apologise that there was a
significant delay in providing the response, and copy of the policy.

This was mainly due to an administrative error on my part.

I note that you are prepared to withdraw your request for Review, and this
is appreciated.

If there is any further information you require from NHSGGC, or if I can
provide further advice or assistance in relation to FOISA, please let me
know.

Yours sincerely
