Dear Home Office,

Thank you for the reply, however it does not actually clearly answer my question.

Is the response that there is not going to be a specific review, because it is covered by an ongoing review? By stating the review is ongoing and will continue in April, are there any timescales that are known for when the results will be shared with the public? For example, will there be another impact assessement carried out and if so - as per my original request, what is the timeline for this?

Dear Home Office/ Clive Peckover

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately the response, despite the incredibly lengthy delay, does not actually provide us or the rest of the British public with any information on what the government is doing to ensure the family immigration rules are working as intended.

In reality, research undertaken by organisations such as Oxford University and the Office of the Children;s Commissioner in England, and indeed our own experience, indicates that the rules are causing more strain on public funds and hindering integration.

What is the nature of the ongoing review - what statistics, reports, research is the Home Office looking at? As I asked earlier, should we as the British public, who the Home Office is in fact accountable to, expect an Impact Assessment, or a report of some sort on how the assumptions made in the 2011-12 IA's, in justification of these rules, have actually panned out, to assess whether in fact the rules have achieved the aims set out your department?

For the avoidance of doubt, please also take this as a request made under the FOI Act, or a general query if that is deemed more appropriate.

Yours faithfully,

BritCits
