Review of 2012 changes to Family Migration rules
Dear Home Office,
A 2012 Impact Assessment into changes to the Family Migration rules (please see here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk...), including the introduction of a Minimum Income Requirement and policy changes around Adult Dependent Relatives sponsorship, notes that the entire policy change will be subject to review in April 2015 (page 1).
In response to a previous FOI request submitted in 2015 (please see here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...), the Head of Family Policy stated that the family migration rules would not, in fact, be subject to a separate review, as they were under continuous review.
However, the Adult Dependent Relatives policy changes - which were included in the above-mentioned Impact Assessment and which made up part of the family migration rules referenced in the aforementioned FOI response, were subject to a separate review, published in December 2016 (please see here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio...).
Please advise as to whether the other elements of the policy changes that occasioned the 2012 Impact Assessment, and for which a policy review was promised in April 2015 - including the Minimum Income Requirement - will be subject to a similar policy review, as the Adult Dependent Relative rules have been. Will this review compare the actual impact of the rules with the impact forecast by the IA mentioned above?
If there are no plans to carry out such a review, please advise as to why the rules changes as regards Adult Dependent Relatives were separately reviewed, and why it was not considered necessary to subject other aspects of the policy changes to review.
Yours faithfully,
Mary Atkinson
