Revenue from advertising on council website.

We're waiting for Marcus Combie to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Sheffield City Council,

“A spokesman for Sheffield Council, which had 25 third party advertising cookies on its benefits pages, said: "Whilst we are reviewing our use of advertising, currently this is an important revenue stream which is used to help fund improvements to our site for citizens.” - Guardian Feb 2020

The council leader also read a prepared statement from a council officer echoing similar sentiment in response to a public question.

1. Could Sheffield City Council please identify how much revenue has been generated on a yearly basis from 2017, from advertising on the council website.

For any public interest test please see current reporting across BBC, Guardian... If SCC attempts to withhold any information on the basis of commercial confidentiality with third party vendors. Could the council please then:

2. Identify how many third parties have commercial agreements with SCC in relation to advertising and cookies on the SCC website.

Yours faithfully,

Marcus
