Dear Ms Pollitt

Thank you for your email dated 16 July 2017, in which you ask how much
money we get each year from the government and from private investment.

I can confirm that we do not get any money from the government or private
investment. The vast majority of our income is generated through doctors
application fees to join the medical register, and their annual retention
fee to remain on the register. The remainder is made up of  income streams
such as interest on cash holdings, sales of the medical register and
payment transaction fees.

I hope this helps.

Dear Louise Gormley (0161 923 6311),

I have had a meeting with the GMC to which the first meeting I had with the GMC I was told without asking that you do have investors and get money from government now your saying that you don't how can that be?
As you said you sell your register who do you sell the register to?
Also as of January next year the transaction fees will be illegal how do you plan to make up the fall of that income.

Yours sincerely,

Angela Pollitt

Dear Ms Pollitt

Thank you for your email dated 21 July 2017,  in which you request further
information about how we are funded. Please find below responses to each
of your requests:

In response to your first point, I have checked our correspondence and we
have no record of the statement you refer to.

Information about our subscription service and the organisations that
subscribe to the service can be found on the following page of our
website: [1]http://www.gmc-uk.org/doctors/register/2...

In terms of the reduction in income from credit card charges, the charge
we set covered our direct costs from the charges given to us from the card
companies. The level of income expected to be received in 2017 is a small
proportion of our total income, less than 0.1%.

As we have a budgeted surplus this year, the fall in income would not
create a deficit in the 2018 budget therefore there will be no specific
action to take.

I hope this helps.

If you have any queries about the way I’ve handled your request, please
contact Julian Graves, Information Access Manager, at

Dear Louise Gormley (0161 923 6311),

Hi Louise I have had two meetings with your patient liason person who besides telling us where your funding comes from how many complaints you get each year how many get closed before they've even began. I wasn't on my own in these meetings and so I know that this was definitely said my question is who are these investment companies/organisations how much does the GMC get from government, from these investment companies and what role do these investment companies/organisations play within the GMC.
Why would the patient liason for the GMC should tell us this in her opening let me tell you about the GMC and what we do and are about speel, and now your saying this isn't the case when I know this was said.

Yours sincerely,

Angela Pollitt
