Returns Assistance

R Lewis made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Home Office,

Can you please provide me with your policy documents outline assistance provided to individuals who have given up on living in the UK and intend to travel to an onward destination (which they have a legal right to reside).

For example: Perhaps the family member of an EEA National may wish to travel to Ireland. A chinese woman may wish to travel to China...

There are a number of migrants that I have been dealing with that do not have funds for the necessary requirements to move on.

Do the Home Office cover the costs of the following:
Air / Ferry / Train / ETC Tickets
Replacement Passport costs
Onward visa issuing costs
Travel to the airport

As you recently outlined in a number of FOI responses in relation to your "Go Home Vans" that the costs of forceful removals are quite high, the minor costs involved above would obviously save an enourmous amount of money for the UK Government.

Please can you provide any guidance / links to guidance in relation to assisted visas for other EEA Member States for family members of an EEA National (British Citizen included).

Yours faithfully,

R Lewis
