Freedom of Information Office,

Mr Munce,

Thank you for your recent FOI request which is receiving attention.
However, in order for me to finalise it I need some clarification.

On the ‘What do They Know’ website your request is titled ‘Retiring
Officers in the Complaints Department’ but your actual request asks for
the numbers of police staff working within the department.  From an
employment perspective police officers and police staff are distinct and
depending on which group you mean the figures/response may differ.
Therefore could you please clarify which group it is that you are
interested in?

Please note that pending receipt of such clarification your request will
be placed on hold.  Additionally if I do not receive the clarification
requested within 20 working days I will assume the information is no
longer required and close the application.

Yours sincerely,

Kevin Lea

Dear Derbyshire Constabulary,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Derbyshire Constabulary's handling of my FOI request 'Retiring Officers In the Complaints Department'.

The links you forwarded make no mention of police officers who are eligible for retirement within a year and work within PSD.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/re...

Yours faithfully,

Talbot Munce

Freedom of Information Office,

Mr Munce,

Please accept my apologies but before I begin to arrange for an internal
review I need further clarification of what exactly you are dissatisfied
with relative to your initial request and my response.

Within your request you asked two specific questions: -

A) The total number of police staff working within your Professional
Standards Department. (Civilian and Police officers)

 B) The number of these that will be reaching retirement or end of service
within the next 12 months (Police Officers only)

In relation to A) I refused to give an answer as per S17 of the Act by
claiming an exemption under S22 – Information Intended for Future
Publication.  The rationale for this was fully explained in my letter and
I referred you to a Home Office website which gives the number of officers
and police staff working in the Derbyshire Constabulary broken down in to
departments of which PSD was one.  I made it clear that this response was
specific to A) only and that the information in respect of B) was provided
further in the letter.

In relation to your second question, B), my response was ‘Four’.  This can
be found at the top of page 3 immediately following the second Home Office
link provided.

Given that I have answered both questions and not linked in any way the
answer for A) to B) I cannot at this stage see what it is you wish to
review.  If I have misunderstood your request for an internal review or
didn’t clarify my initial response sufficiently please accept my
apologies.

Once you have had chance to read the above could please clarify what
action, if any, you require taking next and why.

Yours sincerely,

Kevin Lea
