Restful Homes Group Payments and Complaints

Stephen Booth made this Freedom of Information request to Birmingham City Council

The request was partially successful.

From: Stephen Booth

27 May 2012

Dear Birmingham City Council,

pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act I should like to
requests the following information for the last 5 years for which
it is available regarding Restful Homes Group
(http://www.restfulhomes.co.uk/), hereinafter referred to as RHG;
including those fully funded by yourselves, part funded by
yourselves and those funded by yourselves where some or all of the
funds were later reclaimed from the person (or their estate) or
some other body. If possible please break down by home and, for
items 1 through 3, indicate the number of people and person-weeks
(or person-months) that represents. That is, if 3 people were
resident at a home in a given year one for 52 weeks, one for 26
weeks and one for 13 weeks that would be 91 (52+26+13)
person-weeks.

1 Total payments made for or on behalf of people resident at a home
run by RHG classed as having primarily medical needs.

2 Total payments made for or on behalf of people resident at a home
run by RHG classed as having primarily social needs. If possible
please break down by home and indicate the number of people and
person-weeks (or person-months) that represent.

3 Total payments made for or on behalf of people resident at a home
run by RHG classed as having some other classification of primary
needs. If possible please break down by home and indicate the
number of people and person-weeks (or person-months) that
represent.

4 The total number of complaints or concerns made to yourselves in
relation to RHG, how many were dismissed, how many were upheld, how
many were passed onto another organisation (e.g. CQC) and how many
are still on going. If possible please break down by home and by
primary classification (e.g. safe guarding, negligence, abuse,
theft &c).

Preferred format would be electronic, by email, in a file format
that can be opened in Microsoft Excel 2007 or OpenOffice.org 3.0.

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Booth

Dear Philip,

thank you for your response. I look forward to the rest of the
information as noted in your letter.

Regarding your statement that the council has not received any
complaints about a home run by Restful Homes Group. I have become
aware that in Q3 and Q4 of 2011 at least two complaints were made
to your Safe Guarding team about treatment of two residents (one
NHS funded the other, I am told, part funded by yourselves) at Aran
Court, operated by Restful Homes group in Tile Cross. Might it be
that some records are listed under the home name without reference
to the company that operates them?

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Booth
