Responses to consultation on costs protection in defamation and privacy claims
Dear Ministry of Justice,
In 2013, the Ministry of Justice ran a consultation on costs protection in defamation and privacy claims. See here:
https://consult.justice.gov.uk/digital-c...
In June of 2015 I made an FOIA request, seeking (inter alia) the responses to the consultation received by the Ministry of Justice (your ref: FOI 98468). This request was refused under s. 31(5) of the Act - formation of government policy. See here for the Ministry response: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/c...
The relevant policy was announced on 29 November 2018. Since the s.31(5) considerations are no longer relevant, I am now making a fresh request to receive all responses to the consultation.
To assist in locating these responses, I note from the consultation page that the official who led the project was Tajinder Bhamra, Civil Litigation Funding and Costs, [email address]. I note that Ms Bhamra is no longer in post, but I am aware that the paper and electronic files related to this project, which concluded only two-and-a-half years ago, will still be available.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Sharp
