FOIADMIN (LONDON AMBULANCE SERVICE NHS TRUST),

Dear Mr Anthony

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request below.

In your request you have asked for:

 1. Do any of your emergency response cars have a caged off area for
storage on the back seats?

 1. On our Skoda Octavia response cars, the rear boot/equipment load area
is caged off from the crew/passenger area with the OEM crash tested
load guard - compliant to ECE regs.
 1. The VW Tiguan response cars are fitted with an equipment loading
system that fits in to the rear boot area and extends and replaces the
rear seats, the loading system ties into tested anchor points and is
designed to 10G using material stress analysis alongside FEA systems
endorsed by the VCA.
 1. All other response vehicles have a solid divider between the equipment
and crew area that is provided as part of the base vehicle supply or
conversion.

 1. If so, have they been crash tested?

* The conversion specification details the design requirements, modern
manufacturing practices allow for FEA design calculations

 2. Are you able to provide a copy of the vehicle risk assessment?

 4. The identifiable risks are engineered out during the
design/specification stage, i.e. identify equipment to be carried and
design the load compartment to accommodate the load to recognised
standards, offer the optimum protection to the occupants.
