My response is as follows:

 

1.     Do you operate an approved providers list of private residential
care providers? We do not have an approved providers list.

 

2.     If so, how many providers are currently on this list? See above

 

3.     Is the list closed, and if yes for how long? See above

 

4.     What is the average distance young people are placed from their
home? 16.8 miles

 

5.     How many children’s care homes do you operate? None

 

6.     How many children are placed in care homes that you operate? We do
not operate any Care Homes.

 

7.     How many children are placed with private residential care
providers? 24

 

8.     What is the average weekly cost of placing a child in a care home
you operate? Not Applicable

 

9.     What is the average weekly cost of placing a child in a private
care home? Based on the current cohort this is £2,500 a week

 

10.  What is the average size of the care homes you place children in
(i.e. how many children can they accommodate)? 3.5 bedded units

 

11.  Can you explain your commissioning process for private residential
children’s care providers? We have a specialist team of placement officers
who work closely with the social work team. Once there is a need for a
placements and budgetary approval is given, placement officers will source
appropriate residential care provision based on the needs of the child.
